version 2026.23
posted on 2026-06-30
Version History Plan your next eclipse with more useful local context. We’ve improved visibility details, potential viewing information, clear-sky guidance, and timing so you can better plan when to look.
Track Vitamin D more accurately with a single, unified daylight timeline. Outdoor sessions and Health’s Time in Daylight now combine into one view for clearer progress.
Get a clearer Vitamin D chart and smarter widget updates during daylight, so your information stays up to date without waiting.
We also improved VoiceOver support, localization, and reliability across AR, eclipse, alarm, and widget experiences. 2026.23 5d ago Sun time now gets its moment in the sun.
Start an outdoor session and SolarWatch keeps your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island updated with UV, vitamin D progress, elapsed time, and a gentle nudge when it may be time to head back in.
Also new: terrain data has a tidy new home in Settings, Health and widgets are better at keeping outdoor sessions in sync.
And Solar AR is a bit more patient about finding true north before pointing at the sky and has bunch of little improvements. 2026.22 Jun 9 This update brings a new local eclipse sky simulation. Tap an eclipse map pin to preview what you will see at that location, including the Sun and Moon positions, key contact moments, and the time and maximum eclipse conditions.
Solar alarms now use the actual terrain horizon for sunrise, sunset, elevation, and shadow-ratio alerts. You can also use rising and setting controls to create custom elevation alarms that trigger only when the Sun reaches your chosen angle.
Terrain horizon calculations are cached more intelligently, so terrain shadows and terrain-aware alarm previews load faster after the first calculation.
Shadow maps also get a cleaner viewing option: you can hide the sun path compass whenever you want an unobstructed look at light and shade. 2026.21 May 29 Terrain shadows are here.
SolarWatch shadow maps now include hills and mountains, not just buildings. You’ll get a clearer, more realistic view of how sunlight changes across the actual land around you, so you can plan with confidence when terrain blocks the sun.
This update also brings shadow-ratio alarms to help you spot when shade is likely to increase past your chosen threshold. We improved alarm setup and the preview experience, making it easier to fine-tune notifications before you rely on them. Favorites and widget timelines are also more reliable across SolarWatch, Apple Watch, and your Home Screen, so your key locations stay up to date where you look. 2026.20 May 20 Meet the Solar Eclipse Catalog.
